Yeah... the 87is has 232k on it, and even after my recent valve adjustment, i can still hear a tick that increases with rpm's. It makes me nervous to rev it/drive it hard, and i constantly find myself popping the hood and listening while i fiddle with the throttle. I been thinkin' about getting my head rebuilt, maybe with a slightly more agressive cam, a nice 3 angle grind, and some porting/polishing. Anybody have this done at a reputable shop? If so, how much did it run you? I'd like to just by an extra, lower mileage head and give it to a shop, and then put it on myself if they'll let me. Lemme know!!!

so replace them. they're cheap and easy to get to, why go through the hassle of building a head if you don't need to?Comment

You said that you recently did a valve adjustment. Did you get them to spec? Did you tighten them properly? Check the clearances again.Comment

yes yes. I did it all correctly, I just figure, i might as well have a couple things done while it's in there, you know? And im pretty sure it could use a head rebuild, 232k, all original, c'mon.
