    it's about time

Sorry if this should have gone in the technical section, I was unsure.

I've owned my e30 for about a year now, and i'm just finally getting around to working on it (college student = poor). When i purchased the car it ran, but with an extremely rough idle. I've only driven it twice and it has sat for the last 6 months. The only item I have already purchased and installed is a new battery.

I recently placed an order through blunttech for a cooling refresh kit (new water pump and hoses), I haven't gotten around to doing it though because i figure while i'm in there, i might as well replace other things needed. I know i'll need a new timing belt, but other than that i'm unsure. Can any of you guys recommend maintenance i should do while i'm messing around in there?

I also have a busted odometer which I want to fix. I couldn't find the gears on blunts website though.

    Thanks for your help/input.

Definitely do the timing belt. Check the rubber fuel hoses that connect the hardlines to the engine. They rot, tear and cause fires. Any and all other rubber hoses as well. Vacuum leaks will create all kinds of problems.

anokES, thanks for that link. Definitely one of the first things i wanna do. Cheap and simple.

Sea Aych & NitroRustlerDriver, thanks for the advice.
@sea Aych, did you buy a new cap/rotor or just clean out the existing one?

Is there a specific vendor you guys buy your parts from? I know there's several options just on this site alone.

if the cars been sitting a while also check for cracked vac lines, usually the most overlooked thing when the car has a rough idle.. these cars are probably the touchiest when it comes to vacuum leaks ive ever seen.. even a small leak throws it off

Brand new, Bremi (the oem) or Bosch. You'll see why you want new when you pull the old ones haha...

I'm up in canada but i still use either pelican, fcp euro, etc.
              Sorry for the slow response!
