    Rims and suspension

Im thinking of some supperleggas or volk but i hear if i get 17x8 im going to need spacers and it may be a bit pricey. anyways what do you guys think? im not even sure if oz has superleggas 4x100. oh and im just planning ahead for when car has reached at least my hp goal.

also for suspension, i was thinking coilovers but i wont need them right away because my project wont begin for a while, so should i just find some bilstiens/ie and slap em on for the time being or wait for the coilovers or just get the coilovers now?
also can anyone give me a price quote for some aluminum control arms?

What kind of e30 are you going to be putting these rims on? Remember to think about offset as well rather than just the height and width of the rim.

you will probably have to do some fender rolling and spacer work to get the wheels to fit just right.

just buy steel control arms + Factory offset bushings, and put the extra money into some koni shocks. for comparison, Al control arms are around $190 a piece, and steel CA's are about $90 a piece new.

A 318 will be sooooooo sloooowwww with those huge wheels on. They might look ok, but they will kill your performance.

Turbo or not, it'll be slower with 17's. And don't start with that nonsense about getting super light 17 inch wheels; if you're going to do that, why not get super light 15 inch wheels?

I also think 17's look absolutely silly on an E30; more show than go.

                YMMV,

                        Golde30,
In what way am I spitting out personal opinions against someone else's car? The statement that it will be slower with 17's compared to 15's, all other things being equal, is fact. Look it up. Do some research.

People state personal opinions on this board all the time. It just seems that when someone posts a different opinion than the herd, they get roasted. In no way am I questioning someone else's taste, I'm merely stating my own.

As far as being a new guy here, I beg to differ. I was here the first day, and frequent other E30 boards as well. I just choose not to post on every thread. I've owned my E30 for over four years, longer than many members on this board have been driving. The fact that I've been tracking cars for five years now may also have an impact on the tone of my posts, as I have no use for mods that are strictly for looks.

As a side note, I've answered many emails from E30 owners who've had questions on car setup, suspension, wheel and tire fitment issues, or how to get into tracking your car. These people obviously thought that I had something meaningful and intelligent to offer.

One more thing: Do yourself a favor and proof your responses before you post.

you sure are gonna spittin out alotta personal opinions against other ppl

When you consider a year ago I could buy them through the dealer with a retail of $160 or so.... its a big jump.

Mind you I quoted retail, not my cost... 8)

17x8" $3,000 rims on a 318i that isn't lowered... that would be HOT.
