Well besides the fact that I have a sun burn that you could only get spending a few days in a nucular reactor core - Bimmerfest 2006 was awesome. It also helps that I live about 5 mins away from the location.
There were more cars to see than you have time to even glance at. There was the usuall e46's with a SC. And the guys with new 5, 6, and 7's all with bling bling rims. I've been to enought car shows that it really no nonger impresses me. BTW - M3 Ryans car was a "featured car" in the show room. With paint less than a week old, and you've neve seen a more "mint" e30m3 than his. It actually was in the MIDDLE of the show room, hats off to ryan for putting together a showroom quality car just in time for the B-fest. It was the talk of the town there.
There was a very strong e30 turn out. It seemed as if e30 m20 turbos ruled the day. M3 Ryans awesome cabbie - and (who was it - Mr 325?) - sweet turbo.
A rare "henna" e30m3. not one, but two 2002 turbos. An Isaetta(spelling?). And more cars that you would glady give up a left nut for that you can even imangine...
I was really impresses by the e21 turn out - and the 2002's. Say what you want, but those guys LOVE their cars. If you think a e21 is a shit box with a bwm emblem, you should have seen these cars. It makes you want to pick one up for $500 and slam it - throw a m20 turbo in it and have a instant classic BMW.
On a personal note - I'm amazed at the interest in my little car - all stock - except my 3.5L m30 motor M3 ryan and I put in. I honestly had to walk away from it - I was hounded with questions all day long. But it did put a smile on my face. If for nothing else there way hundreds of other BMW that cost 10 times as much, and have 10, 20, 30 even 40k invested in them!!! - and people just walked on by those cars. My car? Every one stopped, did a double take. And then wanted to talk about it...I'm sorry - but that's kinda cool!
The road ralley was cut short from the natzi CHP. The cornered us half way into it - and as rumor has it had tow trucks lined up - and ready to ticket anyone missing a front plate, loud ect...
I'll up load my pic soon - and some video - but your best bet is on bimmerfest.com.
Nice to meet you all that I did. It turned out to be a really good show. Really good people, and really great cars...
