My OBC doesn't work at all :x

Wouldn't mind replacing that POS with a factory analog clock.

Mine is fairly accurate, that little gauge on the dash is just about worthless. Even on the highway on flat land it says I am getting 21-23mpg when in reality I am getting more like 26-27. Hopefully after the swap I can get an oil temp gauge in there.
        Im now E30less.

The little gauge in the dash is instantaneous MPG. The OBC gives you Average. Hense the variation.

that is why I mentioned the on flat land on the highway part.

If it doesnt read close then I doubt I would give it much attention when its on the extreme ends of the spectrum. I know when I am flooring it or coasting, I dont need a needle to tell me that.

The OBC one is still taking into account the variations before you got on the highway. The only way to truly "sync" the 2 would be to cut/disconnect ALL power to the electrical system while traveling at a constant speed. Then re-apply power so there is no "acceleration" factor.

I dont pay attention to MPG though, its a car, it sucks down gas, I feed it more. We're both happy. :D

I am referring to the gauge and real life mileage, the OBC seems to be within .3 to what I usually get.

And you can reset the OBC's mileage function at any time without unhooking the battery. I have done it several times to test its accuracy (I get bored on road trips easy).

Oops, I didnt know you were comparing OBC to real world. I never reset my trip counter so i dont calculate that #. my bad!

As for reseting the OBC on the fly, yes you can, but have you ever done that for the Ave MPH as well? It still reads low, hense my thoughts that its never truly "cleared".
