If you didn't replace it with some thing then it whould have been sucking hot air from the engine bay ? So may be this caused it to run less well than before ?

    Unless i'm misunderstanding you ?

sorry andrew but you are misunderstanding us,

the air horn is a piece of plastic pipe in side of the top half of the airbox, it connects to the afm with four bolts.
if you take off the top of the air box you'll see it and that will clarify everything up for you.
Thank's for clarifying that Spaz :)

Yes they are swappable, in fact I'll get my friend to dyno his car with both and see which makes more power. :)
        Great, thanks alot man.
Could you get pics of both air horns?

The one in my airbox just snaps into place, will the m3 one do the same ?

I can't believe there is a thread this long about the airbox horn. ;)

It's all about the free HP mods. If only they knew that turning your fan on position #2 boosts your top-end HP. ;)

I'd cut mine, but then I would loose the outward flare at the end.

I suppose it would be a waste of time, but I have time to waste, haha.

Well some people have free access to a dyno, or they are planning on dynoing anyway.
If they have the parts, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

My dynos are free :P , we'll most likely dyno it this friday.

I'll do new baselines on the 325is with the m20 horn, then with the s14 horn, then no horn. Let me know if theres anything else you would like to try.

I just took of the horn and then cut the front lower part of the airbox off below the filter, figured it would let more air in...that and I'm a cheap bastard
gives it a nice growl that I like aswell

                              airbox and a k&n,1) stock horn 2) s14 horn 3) no horn
airbox no filter 1) stock horn 2) s14 horn 3) no horn
                              no airbox, no filter

How about a run with a cone air filter, a run with the airbox and stock filter, then one with the airbox and a k&n. And depending on how much gas you have, try each air horn with the different airbox filters. And no horn for all of them.
Oh, and one with no air box, no filter. One with airbox, stock horn, no filter, and one with airbox s14 horn and no filter.
