my preference i think would me bottom and mid. so it looks like the m30b35 is what would be good for me. thats also the budget option. right?
as im looking at other e30's is there a list for what wheels are interchangeable from the newer BMW's i'd like to put some of the newer style wheels on it. and show some rotor :)

M30 is the most bang for your buck swap. And you'll have to run adapters or do a 5 lug swap to run newer BMW wheels. There are plenty of nice 4x100 wheels that are relatively cheap. My advice, if you run adapters, do not track the car with the adapters on. Get some cheap 4x100 wheels (you can get Team Dynamics in 15x7 for $100 a wheel, and they are badass lookin, as well as being super light, weighing about 14 or so pounds) and run those. The Team Dynamics wheels are what the majority of the SE30s guys run.

That'll look terrible without greatly beefed up brakes.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Proper brakes will probably run you twice the cost of buying an m30

I would just throw some E36 M3 calipers on it. There's a guy on here who did that on his 88 SETA. They are 6 piston iirc.

Im at work right now but are they direct fit ? or a little modding ? After all the basic checking this is the first thing i want to do. i don't want is break fading or extra dust. i don't care about ride noise

I'm not 100% but you'd want to run bigger rotors. Hell why not just but E36 hubs on there, then you'll have 5 lugs and you can throw whatever wheels you want.

Chevy LSx swap. The Al blocks are much lighter than a SBC and the EFI makes them run like a top. My truck has one and it 'tis a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswafflescat and a beast depending on the loud pedal. (give me a year or two to get my ducks in a row and I'll do it to my e30, thinking LS3)

e36 M front hubs for 5 lug front and M3 BBK options (I think somebody even made a corvette bolt on brake kit for the M)
                        z3 M rear 5 lug

Only worry is that the rear end wouldn't hold 400+ lbft of abuse

                              They're all different BMW engines.

The S50/S52 is from the E36 M3 and is a 24v DOHC I6. The M50/M52 is from the E36, and shares those principals but doesn't make as much power, as the S5x is slightly larger and is the performance variant.

The M30 that you would swap into an E30 is from the E28 and E34 535i, as the M30 motors were made for the better part of 40 years (1969-1994), and you want the one nearest to e30 production. It's an I6 SOHC 24v motor. That M30 is specifically called the M30B35, but I suppose an M30B34 could be used as well - they share similar performance figures and the M30B34 is .1 L smaller, not that it's a huge difference.

                              Hope this helps.
