wont work on an E30 without keyless entry(good ol mechanical lock ,with deadbolt) , but just one more reason to much electronics are not good and easily hacked, problem is only going to get worse as throttle by wire ,brake by wire and electronic steering become more common place ,soon they will take over your entire car if they want it even with you inside driving it!!!

This is so right on. plus, when I look at the cars of today with their in dash TV's and sensor this and sensor that and automatic power this blah blah blah, all I think about is how in a little over 10 years, if the car is even on the road, there's going to be so many electrical issues it's not funny.

hell, even the throttle- by- wire an an E46 is... unpleasant...

Brilliant that the whole 'story' is a bit of security camera footage,
a 'victim' and some chinless wonder- from an INSURANCE company....
'on location' (in the garage).
'No actual neurons were used in the production of this 'story'...
And certainly no- one who actually works in the auto industry on entry systems!

Quite likely they've got a really good, really fast code- roller and are strolling along
waiting to hear the 'clunk'... if one catches.

Be easy to REALLY find out if one knew the frequencies that car unlocking fobs
work on, and sat around with a logging scanner, listening for someone sweeping...

But it's CNN, so 'no- one really knows...'
