I would love me a 335d wagon. Is the premium price worth it for the oil burner? I could justify it if I knew I would get 200k+ Out of the car but I worry about all the other things failing on the car other than the engine.

335i are really fun, but by far the most costly to keep on the road.
trans leaks are stupid easy to fix
valve cover gaskets are slightly annoying, especially on 335i
oil filter stand gaskets are easy
starters go out around 100-120k
vanos solenoids go out on 325/328/330 and are pretty easy/cheap
water pumps are kinda hard and def pricey.
Currently own a CPO 2011 E90 328i.
It's a really nice car to drive, all though I have a non sport model with a slush box. Auto trans shifts fast, faster than most cars I've driven. Steering feel is nice and tight which you won't find on the newer F30 series. The E90 chassis has a lot of "mechanical" grip even on 225's I'm impressed on how well it can take corners. The motor is on another level, rev happy N/A 3 liter. Even if it makes like 200hp at the wheels its more than enough for daily driving and occasional hoonage you'll smile at that valtronic whine. The N52 is the most "advanced" motor BMW has made to date with relatively new tech and material. The body lines are just amazing its begging to be dropped on style 95's. Its an all around nice sedan, but there are better performing cars out there around the same price range.
Love our e90 335i xdrive. Perfect driver for the wife. Low maintenance. All service covered for 50k miles and warranty for 100k. Highly recommend and very reliable so far. 27k on our 2011. Go LCI if you do an e9x.
All the direct injection motors carbon up. With a recirc'd ccv system, and no fuel coming in with the air charge, there is nothing to keep the valves clean.

thanks for the info on that little seal. my tensioners have been replaced, I need to call the BMW dealer in seattle to see if the waterpump has been done. they did some major work to it at around 50k miles, my hope is they did it at that time.
E92 335i FBO on ethonal. Great cars but can be $$$ if you don't know how to fix them yourself.
