To repeat, it's a SOVREN- legal vintage race car.

SOVREN is one of the odder vintage race groups around, so
a pretty, legal car for them is a pretty specialized thing.

Legal for lots of other vintage groups, too, but the reverse is
    often not true.

I don't see it selling close to that, either- UNLESS one of the (many) independently
individuals up here wants it. Then, it'll change hands.

    t
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

He is certainly ambitious on his engine output estimates and although Terry is one of the best, that number seems high. Wouldn't let that detract from an otherwise very healthy race engine.
What does Paul get out of M10's?

As much power as your pocket book can handle ..... think he had a couple deep-pocket builds that were north of 260 last time we talked.

If it's limitless and the person isn't afraid of rebuilding fairly often, then Paul (or Terry, or Ed Pink, or Patrick@Midnight, or MM, or any well known race-engine builder) will start looking into crazy stuff like hemi-'d heads, s14 evo-cranks, re-angled intake ports, big-big pistons w/ offset bores, etc.

As Toby can emphasize, you get some guys that start a power-arms-race within a class it can get pretty crazy. Down here with VARA there were a couple years where the small displacement british guys were going through 15k engine's that were built so on edge they were one-weekend motors. Great times for engine-builder's bank accounts, in the end cooler-heads and/or unhappy wives pull things back from the stratosphere.

Exactly. When I spoke to Paul about my engine he asked me two things before we even started mapping out my pistons.
          1. what do you want to do with your car?
          2. How often would you like to rebuild your motor?
Is it possible this motor is one of those type builds? If so, that may help explain the price.
          Also,
I love your comment about the wives. You are so right about that.
If I wasn't married I would likely be living next to Paul's shop.
          Yours truly,

Does this car have some sort of heritage behind it? I can't imagine why a club spec car would be worth that much otherwise.

That's not hard to do - the M10 is a very capable engine.

To be fair.... did you think you were going to have as much into your blue car as you originally thought?

How much you have into a car has nothing to do with how much it's worth.
