I'm to the point of pulling the M20 from a 89 325i vert basket case (lambo doors etc) and transplanting into a 73 2002. The motor runs great (said to have been rebuilt 90k ago). I plan on replacing timing belt, tensioner, and water pump once out. Is there anything else you all would suggest doing while I have it out with 5 speed attached?

Clutch seems good but I have no real history. I did get a brass pivot pin as suggested by Andrew at Ireland Engineering. This is actually a project for my 13 year old son and I. My first car was a 69 2002ti I bought while stationed in Germany back in 1985. He helped me remove the steering box last night to weld the reinforcement plate on the drivers side motor mount. I'm thinking since the motor is out of the 2002, it might be a good time to start cutting and building the new front support for mounting the radiator further forward.

I sent you a PM but I'll say here that you might consider a new pilot bearing and a DSSR. Check your guibo, CSB, and u-joints before installing your driveshaft. You probably won't want to have to drop your exhaust and heat shield and driveshaft if you forget to check those wear items and they start to cause issue down the road.Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!
