A good Datsun find...

I saw a local ad on a random small website for a 1972 Datsun 240z maybe 20 miles from my house and it sounded pretty good so on a whim I called the lady and went to check it out.

Turns out, she was the original owner, had the car reupholstered and repainted a few years back, and was only asking 1500. The car just came out of the shop after a mild tuneup. 240k original miles.

Needless to say, I just had to buy it. I walked away with this beauty for 1400!!! I'm stoked! I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet...probably just enjoy it for a little while and resell it.

I had one that was in the restoration process for so long, my wife called it the "Alleged Z-Car". It was a straight rust free body. I sold it for $2500 for an IT car. All they wanted was the body. I sold the rest of the restoration parts and interior for $500 to a shop that did restoration work. After the 240Z you had to take the Japanese seriously. ShnellerVert was right. Go back and give her some more money!

Having non-existant rust issues with cars is nice, but we have plenty more to hate out here. For instance....

1) Some of the highest sale tax in the nation
2) Usually the highest gas prices in the nation (currently at $3+/gal. for 91 octane)
3) Rediculous smog laws that robs us of doing extensive mods to a street car
4) The most ass-backwards collection of politicians in existance
5) Shitty roads everywhere.....we spent all our funds on liberal 'feel good' pork barrel crap
6) Overpriced real estate. Out here, $250K gets you a 2-bdrm. condo in need of repairs

Ok...end political rant.

As for that 240Z, excellent score man. Really nice car. They have a true essence of what a sports car should be.

i got a 1971 240z in my garage, its been sitting there for over 10 years and my uncle wont let me touch it...says i need to get a 4 year degree first..my other uncle was modifying it for a track car but died b4 he could finish it so now it just sits there. im waiting to restore it and take it to the track. my uncle who wont let me work on it is a douche though, let it sit for over 10 years and didnt drain any of the fluids so they all dried up inside the car... anyone have any ideas on where i would start to get it running again?
