Any recommendations for a in-car fire extinguiser for e30?

I'm driving around with a full size from my house... It is....well, bulky... LOL.

I'm not riding with one in my E30 yet, but I did a lot of research on vehicle fire suppression for my truck last year. This article at Pirate4x4 completely sold me on HalGuard extinguishers. It's a good read with a lot of good information on classes of fires and what you need in a vehicle fire. Also, what's safe to spray on yourself if needed.

A 2.5 pound bottle should fit somewhere in the car without issues.

You shouldn't use a regular ABC fire extinguisher in your car--It will work but cleanup will be a mess and a half. Halon is the defacto standard for fire suppression systems in automotive applications.

I know that, but it is better than nothing at all.... My only option at the time.

Well ABC will absolutely destroy (corrode) any metal that it hits, but is VERY good at stopping the chemical reaction for a fire. Your car may be saved, but your electrical system will be destroyed.

Just for reference, the three extinguishers on the right are all rated (can extinguish) for the same 2' x 2' alcohol fire and are safe on electronics. From right to left they are: Halon (stops the reaction, but you can't buy), Hailatron (Halon substitute that stops the reaction), and Nitrogen (displaces the oxygen). The one on the left is a 6' x 6' ABC.

You may want to look at nitrogen/CO2 or foam if you have a lot of nice engine stuff.

harbor freight sells an automotive extinguisher... I haven't looked at it's specs but it comes with a bracket that probably wouldn't be too hard to mount, say in the trunk on the battery cover or something.

E30's came with fire extinguishers, rare but I seen them.

yeah I believe my mother had a stock one in the e30, but took it out to put in our tool shed incase any of the stuff in there goes up. I'm going to go check, because that was years ago

yeah haha I'm there a lot buying stuff and getting those free LED flashlights (which i use the magnet and hook to attach to the hood latches-lights up the engine bay pretty well BTW)

I'll check on the extinguishers the next time I go.
