you guys think this is a lot of damage? not trying to get a perfect show car but if i can get the car pretty cheap it might be worth it. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/10...61/bmw%202002/
would this 2002 be hard to fix?

I'd be all over it. That rear end damage is pretty rough - but if you know someone that does bodywork, or you do yourself, it shouldn't be all that bad.
Looks like a good project - but don't spend too much. And CHECK FOR RUST! -
Check the rocker panels for rust. If it is clean, those panels are all available brand new from the dealer. Looks like a nice car with some rare-ish parts.
May whoever cut holes in those door panels rot in hell.

I'm concerned about the extent of the damage to the rear.....particularly how the rear 1/4 panel is creasing at the wheel well. I don't proclaim to be an auto body expert, but a new rear clip might be the only option to fix it. The other issue you would want to be mindful of is rust developing in/around the fenders and fender wells, rocker panels or floorpans. Not trying to discourage you from getting it, just look it over very carefully and get a second opinion on it from an in-person inspection.
Last thing you want is to buy a headache.

I don't think it's that bad, especially if your handy with a welder. Like 02 maniac said, those panels are available. You will also want to check the rear shock towers. Check them well, because the paint on them is pretty thick, and rot can hide under there. If those are shot, it's one hell of a big project. Also, check the front subframe where it's welded to the car. They rot there as well. I love old roundie 02's.

depends on how cheep you can get it. Yes it is fixable but to fix it will cost money. Seems like a sweet project.

What others have said is (mostly) true. It looks like a pretty good hit- and rear QTR's are not an easy fix- true that the parts are available, but rear QTR's are $$$$$$$$$$$- like $800 each.
If you're just looking for a fun driver, it looks like you could bang/pull this one out and bondo it up and just run it!!!

Do you know the answer? If not, I would not do it. Buy a good condition original car with no rust for $7500+.

guy says theres no structual rust, but i havent seen it in person. he did mention the regular stuff like bottom of trunk and some surface rust. maybe i should just hammer it out bondo and paint it flat black. it already has the 5 speed put into it. i'll see how low the guy would go.
anyone here wants it? maybe i can get him down to near <$1K or so. the 5 speed conversion parts should already cover most of it.sigpicComment
