It looks amazing. I am so fucking sick of hearing "Bangle this Bangle that." Is there a way I can ignore posts with his name in it?
Why has every other car company out there... (Lexus, Honda, Toyota (yea, I know it's the same) and various other's copied Bangle's design?) (don't deny it, it is true). because it's new, it's good looking, and it stands out.
I love the new cars. Sure, I was unsure about the 5 series when it came out, but what TJ said was true.
These cars look tons better in person. And once you see them in person, you'll love them in all pictures.
I think it looks good, and it will definately grow on me. ;)
the car is way too busy looking in general, especially the front end. there are lines going every-which direction and there's nothing that holds the car together, it looks like a mish-mash frankenstein car. diagonal lines going in towards the middle look like VW/audi's shield grilles. i think there already is shit on the hood, iain, it's those horrible curves. I hate how they're trying to mix BMW trademarks with ridiculous looking new styling. the interpretation of the hoffmeister kink is awful, the start and the end of it are way too abrupt and poorly placed. the taillights are probably the worst - avalon/hyundai ftl. the sedan looks better.
i think bangle is responsible for less than most people might think. he's not the only person who designs BMW's cars; besides, it's bangle's boss who wants to move BMW's design philosophies in a different (bad) direction. bangle was the person who was able to butcher the cars best, so he got the job...i bet he doesn't even like his own designs, he's just a little ass-kissing bitch. the facelifted e46 is bangle's doing, and it looks good - he is certainly capable of designing appealing cars, but BMW doesn't want to paint themselves into a corner, so he is forced to create hideous cars to move further away from BMW's traditional, clean, simple cars.
i think the term "grow on me" is bullshit; like somebody said before, when something "grows on you" you're only accepting mediocrity. there were plenty of BMWs i liked when they first came out, like the e39 and even the e46.
TJ, you like to think your always the "voice of reason," don't you? Sometimes the majority vote is actually right, and for the right reasons as well. Stop being so afraid to agree. Why do you even drive an E30?
japanese companies don't specifically copy bangle or bmw's designs, they will copy any and every german car. they have been doing it for years. on a side note, the new camry looks like a 7, especially the way the taillights merge with the rear fender.
damn, that picture of the M3 doesn't even look good.
at least you can count on good ol' Porsche to come up with cars that are beautiful AND fresh looking, while keeping the company's values/trademarks intact.sigpic

*sigh* here we go again...
The car looks good, It is not a copy of Japanese designs, Japanese companies are copying BMW; look at the new Lexus IS. Audi and Mercedes are also following the trend. Chris Bangle has brough about a revolution in German car design, and car design in general. BMW's designs have to be continuously refreshed, they sell themselves as a cutting edge, forward looking company. Did you know that people were put off by the e36 design when it first came out? Because it was such a departure from what they had been doing. Times change, car designs progress, accept it.
P.S. I'm fuckin' glad they didn't do an e30 "retro design," that would be such garbage.

I completely agree.... except for the P.S.
Although some ideas that come to mind are straight out hideous... I'd rather see a sketch first. If done properly I believe they could bring back the e30. Not like it would ever happen, but I think it's definetly feasible.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

Tails look like the Lexus ES class. What a fucking shame to see what the 3 series has bloated up to.
