to let my Master ASE status expire or not....

Well I spent nearly 10 years working towards the "Title", only to bail on passenger cars.

I'm so balls deep in railroad work now that I never see myself returning to vehicles other than when I retire and work out of my own shop in the back yard. Which is so far off I can't seem to justify the cost and time involved with keeping up my tests.

Anyone else let them go when you changed fields? The reason I ask is because my Auto trans cert just expired and I honestly don't feel like going to take the test, let alone pay for it.

IMO ... If you're not going to utilize it & your job is solid at the RR then put the $$ towards some equipment you'll use down the line.

If you think, even a little tiny bit, that you'll be back in the game ... then spend the cash & re-up on the schooling.

      Just my opinion.

FYI ... I retired from GE as a welder ... no need for certs as I typically do my own work & work for board members, car enthusiasts & bike folks. They don't really care about the patches sewn on my shirt!!
