    Who rides sportbikes?

I was just wondering who here rides sportbikes, what you have, what kind of riding you do, etc.

I have a 94 ninja 600r with a full yoshi exhaust (for sale)

there is a local forum around Buffalo, NY. www.wnysportriders.org.

i'm thinking about getting one next year if i live off campus to avoid the parking issues at school. I think i'd piss my pants after feeling the acceleration on one.

On my 18th birthday, I plan to buy a sportbike. Something small, not to exceed 250cc's.
19th birthday trade in and upgrade to a 500cc bike.
20th birthday trade in AGAIN to something I truly want (big)
        21st birthday start modding.

my roomie used to have a ducati 748ss (i think ?)

gorgeous bike, yellow w/ white trim-

*everything* on it looked like it was designed intentionally that way-
            the thing was a _whole_
made every other bike i saw look like it was built with legos

but one day i came home from work
and the duc was all fuctup on one side
and roomie's leg looked like a football from knee to top of boot

that was about halfway through my "125cc 2-stroke into a yamaha ysr50" project.

said roomie and i have about the same level of regard for our own personal well-being, so... i sold the yamaha as parts.

just seemed like a good idea.

I just sold my 2003 R1 less than a month ago to pay for my 90 325i.
It was my third R1 and 5th bike.

1st was a spanky new 98 Triumph 595 Daytona (955cc's) - black with CF bits everywhere and an under seat exhaust. Still miss that one.

Next up was a 98 R1 I bought with about 3200 miles on it. Had a race exhaust on it and DOT race rubber. Probably the fastest bike I have ever owned.

I then bought an almost new 2000 Ducati 748R but had to sell it after only a couple weeks because it wasn't street legal. (kinda miss that one too, but I was gonna get in big trouble on it someday)

4th was a bone stock R1 I picked up pretty cheap with only 800 miles on it. Almost killed myself on that damn thing several times, so I sold it. Can you say 160mph 2 wheel drift?

I went a couple years with no bike, then my buddy bought one so I had to get another one. It was the 2003 R1. After being right back to my old antics (going WAY too fast while ditching Johnny law), I parked it and waited till now to sell it (duh! wrong time of year!)

Needless to say I have done some STUPID stuff on a bike. With 4 kids I have vowed not to buy another.

              -Patrick

PS. When being chased by a chopper at night, look for trees and other covered areas.

Ducati is nice but in a few years Aprilia is going to overtake them and be the best out there, if they aren't already. I love watching supercross and see the rankings go Aprilia Aprilia Aprilia Aprilia Aprilia Suzuki Aprila.

I have a 1999 Ducati 748 sp BiMoto EU spec. Ride barely ever, I have rode maybe total of 8 times in the last 3 years. I bought just prior to Sept 11th about Sept 2nd, think it was so. Between my activation and barely getting home once a month the bike sits at the storage facility.

I got it with my work bonus, now I wish I had the cash in an IRA would of been more helpful. I am in the process of selling back to dealer as a non taxed vehicle. Being I bought it tax free. My wife want ride with me unless I get an upright or a Harley style bike so another reason for sale, plus money would be better toward kids education fund.

Take the Motorcycle safety course it's a no brainer and you get money off of your insurance for it.

I need to buy my own. Although I will still be the only person to put miles on this monster I'd just rather have on in my name.

                      Im now E30less.

yo you guys looking for bikes-

take the msf course, greg is right. i took it, and was very glad i did. also, it saves 10% insurance. to be honest i didn't even use the insurance reduction, my rates were already so low.

if you're looking to get a new bike, i'd say a 500cc or 600cc. my buddy got an interceptor 500 the same time i got my 600. i got the zx600r, not the zx6r, so its not as aggressive. tank is lower, handlebars are a bit higher, footpegs are different, etc

i'd say fzr or yzf 600, ninja 500r or 600r, honda vfr, old 92 cbr, etc would be good to start. don't buy something new for a first bike, cause you'll want to sell it soon and won't get nearly what you paid for it

I agree, but did just the opposite. I ran right out and bought a brand new 955cc 108 rwhp ( plenty in 98 ) $11k bike to learn on.

I never took the course, but told them I did and still got the discount. Bike was also impounded 2 days after I bought it with 171miles on it. Seems you have to have a special little thing called "class M1" to ride a motorcycle. Anyways, I vowed never to pull over for a cop ever again (on a bike) after watching them tow off my brand new bike.

Looks like someone shops at Griots Garage. ;)
