    Shipping Seats

I have been looking at some sport seats across the country, just curious what your experiences have been with shipping front seats.

What is the most cost effective way to ship and safely package a front seat? Would it be two stacked together or two separate packages? Looking at E39 seats, so stacking may damage them as they are quite heavy. Thanks!

E30 seats are like 44lbs for sports? not sure what the e39 seats weigh. Price might be less if you shipped singles to keep weight, depends on what a pair would cost. Maybe remove the upper from the lower and send in two packages, uppers together and lowers together.

I've heard a lot of people use grey hound to ship seats and other big awkward objects

Yeah I bought an E30 sport seat from a guy in WI, and he shipped it to Philly on Greyhound. Worked like a champ, and it cost about $50 - $75. The seat wasn't disassembled. He wrapped it in cardboard and filled in the gaps between the cardboard and the leather with old (but clean, thankfully) t-shirts. Then he wrapped the whole thing in some cut-up trash bags and a TON of that cling wrap stuff. It took about a week to get it.

e30 seats fit into a uhaul wardrobe box with the headrest removed. i put a piece of 1/2" plywood in the bottom of the box to help it come through on the other side. e34 seats are bigger and they are electric so they will be most certainly heavier. i always use fed ex ground. and i have an account. if you have a commercial address or terminal pickup, they will ship packages that weigh up to 150lbs.

i know you didn't ask, but for rear seats, i go to a furniture store and raid their dumpster for big pieces of cardboard. i just wrap the two halves in the cardboard really well and tape the shit out of it. they also get shipped fed ex ground.

Here is how it looked when I picked it up from Greyhound. It arrived unharmed.

I was trying to sell a set of seats a little over a year ago and the chepest I could find was $275 to ship it all. Both front sport seats along with the rear seats and that was using Freight.

E30 seats fit perfectly in uhaul wardrobe boxes. I definitely reccomend that route.

I shipped a back seat from Idaho to New York via USPS for $130 insured. It was 50lbs and barley made the size requirements.

I've bought seats and doors using greyhound and all arrived on time and with zero damage. It's a cost effective way to ship bulky items.

Freightquote.com. Should be less than $100 to ship a pair of seats, specially to a business address. If you ship freight often, get a hold of a broker. We ship large items all the time from roll cages to engines, it's really not bad as you would think.
