    Smoke Test?

    Any recommended shops in the San Diego area?

    not from me, but if you have an intake leak, this is most certainly the way to solve it.

        There aren't too may plastic bellows and parts you can't visually remove and inspect in an hour or so. Just a idea. There is also the Propane way of doing it, or the "carb start" fluid way too. Just don't use any carb stuff on a painted engine block.

        I've only had a smoke test done on my car for an exhaust leak. The muffler guy used an oxy-acetylene torch, blew a hole into the exhaust pipe, and then turned off the oxygen to make a nasty cloud of black smoke and put it in my downpipe. He found the leak, patched it (and the hole he made) and sent me on my way for $35.

          If you can't find a shop, it's pretty easy to make your own smoke tester. You need to have an air compressor though.

                  I'm seeing all that backed up acetylene mixing w O2 when you start your then....well you get the idea :)
