Way to mass resize and compress images?

I have a butt load of pics from the world of wheels show and would be willing to upload them but they are like 2.2 megs each. Is there a way with Imageready or a "free" program that I could use to downsize and compress them all at once?
    Im now E30less.

I think photoshop has a batch feature. I know fireworks does, that's what I used to use back in the day to resize a ton of images and change their formats.

If you have XP you can download the image resizer powertoy. With it you can select a pic or group of pics and right click to resize them. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

yes, photoshop method does work, but i don't like it. If you goto the PS help section, it gives a short spew of how to use it.

I use a command-line app called ImageMagick - then I just write a short script to parse through all the files in a folder and output the smaller images elsewhere. Its a whole lot faster for me.
