Sand blasting!

50 pounds of the finer sand is what I use, $12.50/bag (canadian). It's the smallest sand they stock over here, and while it takes a bit longer to cover an area, the result is much more thorough and I don't have to go over the area multiple times.Leave a comment:

Thanks for all the replies, I am looking for a media that's not to expensive. I'll check the black diamondLeave a comment:

I've heard of many people using playground sand. They filter it through a screen first, and while it might clog up sometimes, is worth the slight amount of hassle considering it's so cheap.Leave a comment:

I use black diamond as an all purpose media. Works well with dry air. But dont screw around. Be safe and get a GOOD respirator as stated earlierLeave a comment:

All purpose is basically playground sand, the stuff they usually sell at home depot. It will clog up your system.Leave a comment:

Yeah, and it's kind of a big deal. Avoid it, use a different blasting material IMO. Probably not an issue with thicker pieces like a subframe but if you're doing body work, there's also the risk of warping the panel if you're using sand. I'm no expert but I'd probably look into glass bead or walnut shells, and I think there's a plastic media too.Leave a comment:

Yea you need to get a nice room for it and seal it, and wear really heavy duty respirators if your doing silica sand blasting. Even without you dont wanna be breathing in paint dust and shit.Leave a comment:
