Local dealer parts department told me these will start being produced (as well as "most, if not all" parts) for the older generation cars within the next year

Yup. I checked on the availability of a new map pocket ($17) that turned out to be NLA. He told me to try again in 5-6 months because they've been put on notice that e30 stuff is going to go into production again.

BMW will put any part into production if there is enough demand (a certain number of orders on queue through nationwide/worldwide? dealers). What that number is though probably has a lot to do with manufacturing cost vs. MSRP. I wouldn't hold my breath on certain parts but others have already been put back into production (E30 M3 front strut housings).

yeah BMW made another run of e28 windshields that had been NLA for a while.

Again, I can't profess to its accuracy but the parts guy at my local dealer has always been reliable on my strange parts requests. He said they were notified that a lot of parts were going to be produced, not just runs on particular items. Time will tell.

As we all know, these cars are becoming very popular restoration pieces.

so turner has 2 options for e82 mats. anthracite (black) or grey. how does the new e82 grey compare with the old grey floor carpet of the e30? anyone have pics of grey on grey?
