    being the same price, what would choose? M42/M44

    I need your help, I can not choose one E36 are the two other 1995 1996 1995 = M42B18, M44B19 = 1996, being the same price, what would choose?

      I think he might have some troubles given the fact that he's in Europe.

      A lot harder to get legal engine swaps.

      Also, given that Portugal had super strict emission laws that provoked BMW to build the 320is back in the day, I think it may very well be the case.

            If your not going to modify the motor. I don't think it really matters. The M44 has a little more torque.

              Between those two, definitely the S42. Beast of an engine.

                M44. While the M42's the more 'pure' design with direct acting cams,
                the M44 has a generation newer ECU, and the rockers actually
                reduce the reciprocating mass in the valvetrain.
                AND there's no sliding friction in the top end.

                Unless you're racing, then you want the S42...

                    m42 not a fan of the m44.

                    But in all honest if you are not modifying it and is just a daily go for what is every cheaper and in good condition
