OP, I'm 6'3", about 225, and I'm very comfortable in my E30. I don't even have my seat back all the way, and I have a 34" inseam. Try the suggestions of other seats, then modify for E30.

If you can find a nice E30, they are great cars. :)

OP, the sport seats may be a bit tight for 6'4" 280#. Both of the cars you mentioned came with sport seats. Drive one with "comfort" seats and see if it is any less snug in the ribcage. I'm 5'7" 210# and if I was any wider in the body/chest my sport seats would be getting too tight.

I'm 6'9" and 290, and I own 3 e30's. I even fit better in my 1600-02. What you'll want to do is fabricate some seat rail extenders, and not use the sport or comfort seats in an e30, instead, use e36 seats.

Another option is, Kadunza (RobertK here on the forum) sells brackets for installing e36 seats, and with just those and my e36m3 sedan seats, I'm comfortable.

So my dilemma is that I love the body style of the e30 and have wanted one for 20+ years. I am looking to purchase one as a 3rd car to play with in the summer, but have had a little trouble finding one that is in decent condition locally.
I have another one to look at this week.

So on to my dilemma, I am 6'4" and weigh 280lbs. In the 2 I have driven recently an 87 325is and an 89 325i vert I drove tonight I am not all the comfortable driving them.

Any ideas? or should I just move on to newer models?
