    price of m20s?

Some time this summer after i get my car running and patched up I want to do an m50 swap. I've always wanted to do one ever since i knew what m50s were, and i almost bought a car with one already in it back in the day. Anyway what's the price of m20s going for right now, mine has about 120k on it runs strong still always used mobil1. Maybe that could help out with swaping costs.

A relatively complete engine (including harness, manifolds, a/c compressor, alternator, flywheel) with that kind of mileage should get $600-700. The gearbox is worth around $200 or so.

No M20 to me is worth 600-700 bucks. Thats what M50s go for.

Its all relative. If someone who has a worn out or damaged M20 and wants to replace it with an identical unit, spending $600-$700 for a complete, solid running engine is dirt cheap compared trying to fix/rebuild it. Even better if someone running in Spec E30 racing who wants a back-up engine that HAS to be completely stock.

I would be willing to go up to $450 or so for one...and I need one!

well this price could offset the cost of my swap then. Main reason is the updated engine is the fuel milage.

Tony, you can buy a lot of gas with the $3K you will likely spend on the swap.

LUke, i dont think it's going to cost me 3k to do the swap, it's getting cheaper everyday.

Well then hurry up and get it done! My valves are noisier every day, and it smokes on full throttle.

What kind of costs do you think you will have?

I guarantee youll sell the car or get rid of it in some other way before you make the money back on an m50 swap in gas milage savings. Your not really serious as thats the only reason your doing this are you?

of course not but it's an excuse..... it's just a bonus, it's just a better platform IMO because i dont wanna turbo, or spend 3k on a stroker
