What makes you fall in love with a car?

Heh... yeah... the only reason why I get reminiscent when I see Mk IV 1.8T Golfs is because I fucked the hell out of my ex-girlfriend in the back seat once and she spun it on me and started roll playing like I was some Varsity Highschool Football captain "You'll still talk to me in school tomorrow, right"... :up: we were in college at the time. Fogged the windows up good that night.

I moved from a Ford Tempo automatic (puke) to a Mk III Jetta 5-speed (improved) to the Golf (found happiness in cars) to the Audi TT (worst car ever built... period) to the 1990 E30 325i and completely fell in love with BMWs after that. What I like most about the older BMWs is that Im not totally convinced that the new ones and their technology is any better.

HA! Yeah after the injector swap and the ps pully mishap I find my self looking back more, and inhaling more when at a stand still!
But I do look back when I park it... I can't help it. It took me four years of searching to find her! I love watching it drive when I am not in it too. When my girl follows me in it or some one at a meet takes it out.... It's just sexy! I can't wait to get an e30 m3!

I stare at my car all the time.. but mostly I just like driving it. Working on it is fun in theory, but in practice I get bruised, cut, my back hurts and I end up hating it. so next month I'm building a new motor and swapping trannies.. ugh. ;)

Two scenarios come to mind:

Drop Topped - Warm summer night right after the sun has gone down - getting on a freeway onramp and just tourque blasting through the gears , 30-40-50-60-70 -roll up the side windows front and back -80-90 as the car sinks lower to the ground and the slightest audible whistle of air is floating just inches over my head. Glance at the dash and instrumentation as it puts out an inviting warm redish glow and realise a feeling of utter contentment.

The vehicle becomes an extention of my being as man and machine are in harmony once again


Beach Cruise Drop topped- shades donned- 30-40 mph right next to the ocean as the waves crash and spray can be seen as mist in the air - light ambient music on the stereo - look over to my right and a sea bird is just floating effortlessly in the slip steam of air within a few feet just over my head and to the right - Wink at my winged friend as I downshift and drop the clutch. Bye Bye birdie, bye bye...
