So how did you end up with 2 IXes living in Texas? Wouldnt think they are very common there. Must keep nice though.

Just to give you a idea of cost of IX's. I brought a 1989 e30 ix for $2800, With 5speed swap, all work of seals, clutch, flywheel resurfaced and shift bushings and seals replaced at the time. Also PO changed to 5speed because the VC went out and it now has a good working VC for now. Also had Miller MAF sensors, and lots of other maintenance things replaced with the 7k miles. installed by PO too. The paint was junk/Clear was peeling, under body is in very good condition but there are the starting rust problems area's (Battery Trey, Front Fenders location) I'm currently installing new bushings, brake lines, rear brake calipers, bushings , bears and other worn things. Also painting the under body in PR15 to help save this car from the Evil Sail we put on our roads.
IX can be money pits easily.
-Find one with less amount of rust
-Working VC, (5speeds and auto VC's are different i'm pretty sure)
-Good front drive shaft
-Good Front axel's
Here's something that will help you out on e30tech, I wish I could join there group but the Mod's are not accepting anyone new or making it very difficult...

the vc for autos and manuals are the same. the difference between the two would be the front half of the tc housing and the input shaft. the rest of the parts are identical.
back when i joined e30tech, i just paid the 5.00 tax and was allowed in right away. i don't even bother going there anymore. i feel like it is pretty much a waste of time. kind of like fishing in the dead sea.Last edited by flyboyx; 10-09-2014, 12:36 AM.sigpic
