There's a guy on bimmerforums whose 325e is approaching 500k. I believe he had to rebuild the head at about 400k, but other than that nearly original. I expect my e30 to do the same for me.

He used to run D class with me, but over last winter he did a lot of upgrading and moved up to C class... and dominated it completely.
