Awd adds extra weight in the wrong places, it no secret that a 325i is quicker and handles better than a 325ix

so the i(S) corners better then the IX??

i am looking for something to be competitive in mainly autocross (as well as daily driver :))

i never got a chance to run autocross in my lat e30 (87 is)

Coupe Quattros are SICK cars. Sicker than any IX i've ever seen.

        But they are problematic.
        Parts are scarce
        repairs will be expensive.
It will be a bigger pain in your arse.

For 3k you can probably get into a 325ix or a coupe quattro that both need a little love, but the chance of you having less than double that into your coupe quattro within a couple years are slim.

Despite all that I have seriously considering buying a CQ, but never an IX. Man they are sweet looking :)

if you live in the snow i'd really consider a 325ix but otherwise, whats the point.

Its not that the ix is no good it just not as good as a i/is.

As far a snow goes I have no problems as long as I have good snow tires and I drive a "i'.

good snow tires make a 325is fine to drive in the winter.

I'm generally about 2-3 seconds slower than my friend's 325i in autox, but he is a better driver and he also has race tires while I'm on 195/60 azenis (that's easily 2 seconds there). I also have an automagic which I just about fried yesterday, haw haw! I guess my torque convertor doesn't like 20-30 seconds of bouncing off the redline in 1st gear...

it can be setup to handle as well, but not with stuff you can buy off the shelf. hell, even finding H&R sports for an ix is pretty tough these days!
