That's true. That's how I did the turbo badge. the original one I did was of an actual turbo badge that I traced but I think the picture was on a goofy angle or something that's why it came out looking like it did. The 2nd one I found a close up pic of the turbo script on a 2002 fender and traced that and it came out much better. once I can get one in my hand and put it up next to mine Ill know how close it is. Looks close on the computer but it could be WAY off. time will tell but I will nail this down.

It seems like you will need to work hand in hand with a graphic designer to nail the aesthetics? The model badges need to be created from scratch, not from an existing font family if you want it to look factory? AFAIK BMW never shared the proprietary badge font.

While this is true, some CAD systems (I have experience with Inventor) allow you to put a picture into the system, where you can then "trace" the font. You can then extrude the piece and chamfer the edges.

Im hoping to Have some things printed and in hand over the next few weeks. My friend with the printer was having some issues so I had to find a new source. I think I found some good local companies to do it, so im crossing my fingers I can get some things made up pretty quick. whats the mendel 2? s50 can definitely be done and im not sure why I haven't thought of that yet lol I sent "324v" off to a new source so im kinda on the right track but people need to know its an s50 not an m50 under the hood. im on it ;)

Im interested in peoples thoughts. Im not sure its the the exact same font but I think its close enough to be considered badass.

327 for the ETA lover or the "Frankenstein" motor

    332 for the S54

and an experimental one that im not sure I like but since this is what I have im going to make it and see. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get this message across in a different way? im open to suggestions

I scaled all these to be a little over 6" and about 1 1/4 high can be made different but this is what ended up looking the best on my computer.

Ill be playing with this stuff over the next few weeks If anyone is looking for anything different let me know. I haven't ventured over the other forums yet but once I get a few things sorted out I def will.

The font isn't correct but it is still cool. There may be the CADs for the actual badges out there on the interwebs if you find it. Then just use that and cut the numbers together.

i think if you made that "M" a bit more thick then it would look a lot better.
