I think I've been working on the e30 way too much lately. At least once or twice a week Im on realoem looking for parts and wrenching. I did just get mine maybe three months ago so I'm doing all the deferred maintenance from the PO. Im looking forward to getting this thing on the track sooner or later but man its such a money pit in the beginning. I got so excited getting a single owner unmolested car but now I wish I just bought a retired specE30. I can't be the only one..

My don't quote me list:
Originally posted by george gravesI could be wrong, but I don't think it's a smog test type of thing. IIRC think it's against CA law to *sell* a dual outlet muffler as a replacement for a car that came from the factory with a single. But don't quote me on that.

Depends on what you call work. Last time I did anything beyond checking fluids, tire pressures was last week. Drained and replaced tranny oil and mounted my snows. Gave a quick paint job to an extra set of control arms that I'm going to replace the ball joints and CABS on.
Before that, my last job was installing the premium speakers I got from the wrecker. That was a few weeks ago. Another quick job was rear strut mounts.
My last big job was my subframe bushings and diff seals, which was back in mid-August.Estoguy

Probably work on mine once a month or so, but it's more tinkering / mods than necessary maintenance. It's therapeutic :)
If I'd left it stock, over the last 6 years all I would have done is serviced it once a year, and done the fuel pump when it died two years ago. Can't say I've found mine to be a money pit. I did buy a neat two owner car to begin with though.

Wish I would have done one of those before I did the m30 swap. Didn't realize how simple they were

For fun or because I need to? I haven't done anything to the car I had to do in months and months, probably my oil change in January.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!

i worked on mine daily for about 7 months to get it to a point where i could register it. then once it was rolling i hardly touched it. even though there's a laundry list of things i still wanna do (a lot of which don't even cost any money really).
my car started off as a BIG project and i only got so much done so i'm fortunate all that happened was a blown clutch slave over the 4 months that i was beating on it before winter. it's a pretty tough car.
