Pete McHenry pioneered many BMW conversions and was the goto guy for performance modifications. He was big on stroker m20's before moving on to 24valve m50/s50 swaps. Back then it was like 10-13k for an m50/s50 swap...so I didn't feel it was worth it. Things are different today. Information is shared and more people are involved. I don't know if he was first in the world but more than likely was in the US.

    exactly.

    lets face it.
we're decades behind in "cool factor" swaps/engineering/ingenuity when compared to these crazy guys

Basically they documented a swap right? What year was that? I remember reading about it when I first got into E30's back in the early 2000's.

Edit: Beat me to it Fred. 1993? Dang, that was very early on.
Yeah, Stu had his swap completed in 2003.

I think it was floated on here that Pete did his first swap in 1993 or 1994 or so.

Who cares and there is almost no way to for sure prove it. Usually "those guys" need the attention

being the 24v has been out since 92ish.. well before the years of the mainstream interwebz.. it would be pretty much impossible to determine.. even now with so many people building stuff its impossible to track stuff like that down..

on a side note, i always love seing people signatures like "Worlds first 2zj swapped blue e30 coupe in the country".. who cares
