    Finally

    So my bmw story started in February of 2014. I just got out of the service and needed a car. I got a 87 325is for free, with an m52b28, and two e36 zf trannys. The car didn't run, it needed a new head. Well he (family friend and bmw mech) had an 89 325i, 5 speed. That he wanted to get rid of as well. So this past Saturday the time came. I went to nebraska and drove the 89 home. Drives great. He put new bushings in the rear end, trailing arms, new front lower control arms, bushings and new strut and springs (e36 m3 springs is what he said). Has a Dinan chip in it and a "hopped up" cam from what he said. Only has front seats, from an e92 m3, which are wonderful.

    Well it idles rough, so I'ma check for vac leaks, clean the icv. He said the afm (with the floppy box thingy) is janky and will need to be changed). So ill get the miller maf conversion, cause it's cheaper than a new afm.

    So yeah, that is the start of my e30 life, car puts a huge smile on my face, just like my old ae86's did.

    Wondering a few things tho. How much better is the IS suspension compared to the stock I suspension? How do I get the code for a radio? Will all the interior pieces just swap over? And what are the good bits that I should take off the IS prior to parting it out?

    Any info or "hey go to this online shop for cool stuff" would be awesome cause I'm a newb to bmw. Thanks guys and have fun!!

    If i recall, you can call up or head down to a dealer and recieve a code once info is provided? And depending on what shape your IS is in, you can get some decent money for body parts/interior bits if you're going the full part out route.
    And some pics of your ride would certainly be welcomed around here!

          Where at in Nebraska did you pick it up? just wondering cause I'm from Nebraska.

            its -15 degrees F here today so i will get picks of the car up soon, ive been focusing on getting it to run a little better. icv is clean, no vacuum leaks, still a rough idle. going to use some seafoam today. I still need to wire the seat up so I can lean it and move it around. I picked the car up in ames, NE, I think, by freemont, yea cause I ate at the burger king right there. lol.

            I gotta focus on getting it to run a little better cause I don't have another car, and cant ride my bike in the winter lol. but when it isn't -15F ill wash it and get pics for all of you.

                  update, after two cans of seafoam the engine now responds as it should!! no more low end sluggishness, and its more responsive!!

                    How are you getting the seafoam in - gas tank or pull intake hose?

                      If it has a fancy cam, that could be contributing to the funky idle.

                        Yea the cam is why it idles like it does, I realized it after the fact lol. But to get the seafoam in I used the vacuum line from the fpr slowly sipped it out of a cup so I could see how fast it was going in. Let it sit for a few min, started it up and it was much better. Also put some in the gas tank too. I will be trying to find 19lb injectors cause I need to do the maf conversion cause the afm is janky as all get out.

                          Got pics of the cars? I can't believe you got this thing in Ames. Was it in town? It's such a small town you would think I would have seen it there. Then again if you sneeze you won't even know you drove passed Ames.

                            Hahahaha yea I will get pics Friday cause it's just been to cold to do anything lately. And yea ames it was it was by that huge grain/seed business thing, but I'll get pics tomorrow up for all you guys. One question tho, I have the ellipsoids (prolly spelt it wrong) passenger side low beam is cracked on mine, can I just swap out the glass from the other car?
