Note: My 88 325iS had the 63L tank although it's not a "plastic bumper" car but it is a facelift car.
RealOEM only shows 55L tanks (the smaller ones) for the 91 318iS.Last edited by reelizmpro; 01-05-2015, 09:23 AM.Leave a comment:

since no one else has mentioned it yet the 318is also has a smaller gas tank than the 6 cylinder carsLeave a comment:

Yeah if my 318is was my only car I would say Id rather have a 325is. But i love the little m42. great on gas, high revs, peppy, light nimble.
I also have an m50 swapped 318is, and a daily e46 330 so lol i dont really need the 325is :pLeave a comment:

I've driven both and I like my 325is better but, it comes with those pesky M20 problems. Timing belt, 2 extra cylinders, worse MPG.Leave a comment:

both the 318is and 325is came with the is front spoiler. if yours had an i lip, it's because it was lost or stolen.
freakin' n00bs. ;)Leave a comment:

awesome! ill check out the article. Thanks!
LOL. So it came with a rear 'S' spoiler but no front spoiler? think about it. That doesn't seem logical even for the 318iS where most things were options. That little iS front spoiler gets stolen, broken, or just plain falls off. It's not uncommon for it to be missing. It is an "iS" spoiler, not a 325iS spoiler. All 'S' package cars came with front and rear spoilers.
Good read on the 91 318iS...

"So BMW's E30-generation 318is is a curious little beastie. The model's purpose was seemingly clear: Keep in touch with the marque's strong sports-sedan roots by channeling the original, vaunted and classic-even-in-the-'80s 2002. Stir in the firmer M-Technic suspension (M3-stiff springs, firmer Boge shocks, anti-roll bars measuring 20 mm front and 12 mm rear) and the brand-new 16-valve M42 aluminum-DOHC-headed four into the formal, outgoing, ridiculously popular 3-series architecture, add an air dam and trunk lip to look sporty, and minimize the available options (sunroof, limited-slip, fog lamps, anti-theft equipment and metallic paint were it; not even an automatic to confuse matters). Then sell it for a bargain-basement price: $19,995 to start if you choose the four-door, the first BMW since 1986 to come in under the 20-grand mark, even chock full of standard equipment like a slick-shifting Getrag 240/5 five-speed stick, air conditioning, four-wheel-disc brakes with ABS, power windows, central locking, AM/FM/tape deck with four speakers, and a driver's-side airbag. The two-door seen here stickered for $21,500, plus the cost of the sunroof."

Ok - well there's definitely only one "is" lip. That really thin one is just an "i" lip. I was pretty sure all 318is came with an "is" lip, but whatever. I also bought mine low-mileage from the original owner (who was definitely not a car guy or someone to swap lips - he just bought a 318is cos it was the cheapest BMW they sold at the time), and it came with an "is" lip, so I don't know what that means.
Edit: Also - I have a bunch of old magazine scans of 318is reviews that I got from M42club, etc. I just looked them over quickly and all the pictures of the car have an "is" lip on them. Doesn't necessarily mean they came standard, but you know...Leave a comment:

yep bought it single owner, low miles. Guaranteed never replaced, because stock suspsension makes that clearance oh about 3.5 feet lol. if you google image 91 318is. most stock looking models on the pics that come up show the smaller lipLeave a comment:
