Need your advice guys. I had bought some BBS RAs off Ebay (for like $180 for 5), thinking they would be good for the E30. I eventually got a set I liked better, so put the BBSs up for sale. In the meantime I spent about $400 having them straightened, curb rash filled in, etc.
So I ended up selling four wheels for $530 (plus $40 shipping) - I broke even and was happy to do so. Buyer was real easy to work with, but I got a little suspicious that he wanted to pay with check, didn't want to send payment until wheels were painted (they were Helios Blue) and boxed, and was anxious to know when they were on the way.
Like a dummy, I didn't wait for the check to clear before sending, as he seemed trustworthy. Anyway, he called today to say the wheels were no good, were almost completely square, couldn't mount tires, etc. He also informed me that he put a stop payment on the check and if I want the wheels back I can arrange for pickup myself. I called the bank tonite and they said the check went through, so he can't stop it now. So no doubt I will have an even nastier phone call early next week.
Is it possible that wheels were straightened, but are that bad (ie I was screwed by the wheel place)? Is it possible the buyer is scamming me, and that the set I get back (if I get them picked up) are not the same ones (just pieces of junk)? What do you think my responsibilites are, either legally or just a responsible seller?
The buyer's father apparently owns a service shop in PA that specialized in German cars - Terry's Service Center in Fallsington PA. Anyone ever hear of it?
Thanks a million. Btw, anyone want some BBS RAs? :?
