If your lucky. Bet if OP try's to buy the starting price will be 2k. Sounds like the guy knows what he has.

    I don't think I have a m90 :( Owell though I'll still have one hell of a turbo motor.

see the long square that ends in a freeze plug that goes down the middle of the block? that's what it looks like on an M90. On a regular M30 it's a lot shorter.

    (it's a coolant passage)

there's typically an L drawn on it, but good luck seeing it under the dirt and rust on a typical engine.

Supposedly there is a white "L" marked behind the oil filter. Pls confirm =)

    USDM e23s didn't get M90s.

the entire point of the M90's awesomeness is the short stroke and big bore. it has the same bottom end dimensions as an S38B35. To increase the numbers you need to make it breathe better. E21 intake runners, nice port job on the head (which is basically identical to the B34 head in casting), big throttle body, high compression pistons will give it some power. A modern B35 cam and ignition/injection setup would let you burn a chip and get drivability out of it rather than dicking around with a mechanical distributor. S38 ITBs would be pretty sweet, but a bit overkill on a 12-valve head and a pain to clear the brake booster and coolant distribution block.

are you looking for a race motor? a driving-around motor?
thats good info thar! i just want a driving around motor. more torque than rpm would be ideal.

i'm sure there must be a thread on it if i searched, but i was just wondering what is the best naturally aspirated combination for an m30? best torque/hp without spending ridiculous money on custom parts?

    that's completely false.

it will, however, dump your compression ratio way down.
