Fuel Starvation after 4 gallons used.

Hey guys, got a bit of a weird problem going on.

I recently swapped in a late model fuel tank into my early e30. I used an aftermarket Walbro 044 pump installed in the same orientation as stock.

I'm getting fuel starvation after using just 4 gallons. When the tank is brimmed it runs great. However after about 50-60 miles the car will starve on anything over 10% throttle.

I don't suspect it's the fuel pump, it always happens after using about 4-5 gallons from a full tank.

I suspect the siphon that equalizes both sides is not working and dumping fuel in the driver side of the tank.
Could my return hose be clogged?

Any help is appreciated. Just want to check before I drop the tank and install a transfer pump on the drivers side of the tank.

4 gallons isn't enough to get down to the saddle and drain the
    right side, I don't think.

The transfer pipes DO sometimes clog, but I'd look at other things
(weak pump, leak in the pickup tube somehow, etc) before dropping
the tank. Especially, put a pressure gauge on it and see what it's doing-
    that might reveal something useful...

The real bummer is that you can't test the transfer pipe in an E30....

Leak in the pickup would be my 1st look. Make sure the feed hose (going to the engine from the pump) is tight as well and not leaking.

If the pump is good a loose connection either on the feed side or pressure side of the pump may be your culprit, it gets worse once the gas level drops and the pump works harder.
