That was a $60,000+ car with that mileage, history, and in that (apparent) condition.
It's hard to believe she was prepared to sell it for $35,000!

She did all right, but could have gotten more if she new more about the market.
I was also trying to buy the car after Powling gave me her contact info, but unfortunately Pfaff got to it before me.Leave a comment:

Hi everyone,
Here is an update for anyone interested
I viewed the car and made an offer. After a bit of back and forth, I came to the conclusion that I just couldn't bring the funds together to make a deal. So I passed on the contact info to a close friend who works at Pfaff that was interested, and they passed that onto someone from Pfaff McLaren. They went and viewed the car, and purchased it. Within 12 hours of purchasing it from the original owner, they had it sold to a previous Pfaff customer.
I figured some people on here were wondering what had happened to the M3 so I thought I'd give an update for those interested.
Sad to see it slip through my hands but for me I just couldn't make the money work without going into severe financial debt to have a car that I 'wanted' but didn't 'need' at this time...maybe one day down the road though.
I'd love to see the car again if the new owner happens to stumble across this site though!Leave a comment:

As per OPies request, I put the thread away till he can figure out the situation.Leave a comment:

This is a dream scenario for everyone looking for an M3. Find an old owner who doesn't drive the car much anymore and hope they don't know how much the cars have appreciated over the years or a least make you a sweet deal on it. Goodluck!Leave a comment:

hope it works out for you. I've just had crappy experiences in my past that made me realize that unless I had full asking price in mind, or at least a very reasonable offer, it always falls thru and goes to someone else
IMHO, if this works out for you, I'd be VERY impressedLeave a comment:

This.i wouldn't be so sure, OP said he and the sellers agreed he would have right of first refusal and not everyone is like that.
i see this as more of a case of OP trying to obtain a unicorn that is crazy hard to find at any price (with added personal value cause he lusted for this car seeing it around the block) rather than get a huge discount off unsuspecting people.
I'm not trying to find a "killer deal" or put one over on unsuspecting people. I'm merely trying to get a car I've wanted for a long time. I've already said that if my deal with them falls through then I'll let others know. I have a price that I can afford to offer and if it's too low for what they want to sell if for then no big deal, some times it just doesn't work out.
A few people have PM'd me asking for details if my deal falls through so they can try to buy the car which I have no problem doing. But I want my crack at getting it in the meantime.Leave a comment:
