Any idea what this schrader valve on my trunk is?

    Hey guys,

Curious if anyone has seen one of these in the past? Looks like a schrader valve on the exterior but nothing currently connected inside the trunk. Car in questions is an '87:

+1 on a past airbag setup of maybe even air assist shocks. Is there a tow hitch on it?

You should make use of it and bag the car.

I was thinking the same thing. Couldn't find evidence of a compressor/tank mounted anywhere in the trunk but who know's.

Honestly didn't even see it until I got the car home and gave it a wash.

If no evidence of compressor then maybe he did have air shocks in there instead.

          Like these:

I had a set on my 68 Mustang, so I could jack up the rear end and look cool. they were also handy when my fat friend sat in the back seat, he would make my fenders rub, so I would air up when I knew he was going to be in the car. :D

That's the nos button...because race car. But really, it looks like it could have been bagged previously.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've never seen the Monroe air shocks, could be a cool option for towing something small .

Yep, air shocks. Got a set on my Corvair.

Air shocks, in the mid 90's to early 2000's they were the cheapest replacement shock you could buy. Roughly 10-15% cheaper across the board than a regular shock.

(DISCLAIMER: this post is excluding Cadillac's and Grand Prix's, they had expensive ones stock, and while the air shocks were cheaper, they were jacked up for those models and others that had factory air adjust suspensions.)

Good old 70's air shocks. That way you can rack the rear end for lack of traction. Had a few muscle cars back in High School that we did these in. Ride like junk too and make the car skitterish.
