    Trading Method

Hey all, me and homeboy on here wanna trade our rims but he's half way across the country.

What is a safe way to trade? Is there something like a third party trading service to monitor the transaction and make sure no one gets scammed, or do we just rely on eachother's word?

    Any tips?

    Thanks,
    Matt

No really safe way. Do you both have a spare set of wheels? Ship them at the same time with tracking numbers.

I guess you both could give each other like 800 bucks via paypal. Then when you guys receive each others wheels you can refund the money.
      Current
      99 328i (Sold)
      91 318is M50B25TU
      89 325ix (Parted out)
      87 325is (Parted out)
      95 525i (Parted Motor for 91 318is)

Each party pays the other for the wheels. Simple and done.

OP, you could both road trip to the middle of the country and swap in person. It would be fun and a cool story at least

How about each ship 2 wheels, when those are both received, ship the other two.

Or just take the chance and hope you don't get screwed. My fear would be them getting damaged in shipping and the other guy saying fuck it, I'm not sending my wheels.

If he is a homeboy why are you scared?

agree on a value to use for both sets.
you sell your rims to him. he sends money (paypal), you send the rims.
then when he receives the rims, you send money to him (not a refund, a complete new purchase), and he sends his wheels to you.

yes, you will lose the paypal fees both ways, but involving paypal gives you that little extra security. of course, as always, some trust is involved no matter what.

Thanks all for your input. The PayPal method seems the safest, I'll see if he has the money.

                  Sorry ST1G, he's a potential homeboy

Why was it a nightmare? Did you have to take legal action?

Me and potential homeboy are just shipping our rims out at the same time. He's got more posts on here than me and I contacted him so I'm just gonna trust him.

I was dealing with a young guy and he was lazy. Got all kinds of excuses, we were supposed to send them out at the same time, but he never did. It was one excuse after another. Eventually when my wheels arrived, he sent the wheels in the same box I used to send him MY wheels... so poor planning on his side. If I didnt have 3 different forms of contact info, I probably wouldve never gotten the wheels. Luckily the wheels I sent him only cost me $40 (craigslist deal!) so I had minimal risk. Still... just make sure you and homeboy are on the same page

Oh I gotcha. Well at least he sent them to you eventually lol. Nice score btw, bartering is underrated.
