CK Worldwide makes the Pyrex Gas Saver kits, unfortunately not in .040" size. The smallest they make is 1/16" and they offer the kit in both standard Alumina(ceramic) and Pyrex nozzles.
Gas Saver Kit w/ Alumina Nozzles: P/N D3GS116 $22.14
Gas Saver Kit w/ Pyrex Nozzles: P/N D3GS116P $42.77
Here's a link to their kits if you'd like to see what comes in it. http://www.ckworldwide.com/standard-kits.html
Conversely, if you choose not to go with that and would like to piece a standard gas lens kit together with the first set of part numbers I posted, here's what you'd be looking at per piece:
10N22 collets - $2.23/ea (we sell in a pk of 5)
45V24 gas lens- $7.52/ea (also sell in pk of 5)
54N17 alumina nozzles - $2.81/ea (we sell in a box of 10)
54N01 nozzle insulator - $ 2.82/ea (sold individually)
Hope that clears it up some!
I will eventually get a gas lens and stuff. There are other projects I want to do some TIG for. Especially one thing. I have a weird space next to my fireplace and wall that is where I have a make shift crappy stand for my AV stuff that I would like to make a nice stainless stand for.Leave a comment:

Without having much other experience, I have been satisfied with the Everlast.Leave a comment:

Nahh, they have no freaking clue. My cheap ass Everlast cost $300, used bottles of gas (one empty, one 1/3 full) cost $80, $30 for two sets of .040 tungsten that I can't use currently, $30 for a cheap ass regulator and flow meter, welding gloves for $15, $50 helmet, still don't have fill rod/mig wire, need new cups and collets plus conversion kit $80.
Just about $500 for an extremely cheap, barely capable TIG welding setup. If I was do buy mid-level TIG setup, it would be $1,800 for the machine alone.
I don't even know what I have into my equipment now but if I was to guess....probably $5000+ quick ballpark.Leave a comment:

I cracked my pyrex cup last week :(
Back to ceramic gas lens for now...Leave a comment:

You guys do have to realize one thing though; welding is voodoo to most people. They have no idea how much all the equipment costs, consumables cost or the time invested in doing welding properly.
You probably feel you shouldn't have to mention that. But I am a CPA candidate and I am constantly second guessed on every accounting decision I make.
That said, I greatly appreciate all of the knowledge you guys are dispensing on this forum.Leave a comment:

I would consider myself a pretty friendly guy that likes to help people.......but people take advantage of that. To many times have I said ya I can do that, assuming the I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine......And get nothing in return. I have THOUSANDS of dollars wrapped up in all my equipment and people get offended when I say minimum $50. I have to cover my electrical, consumables wear and tear.......AND GOD FORBID if my time and skill aren't worth something either.

Not a problem! If you want prices on anything, i'll see what I can work up and whether we can get it or not, just shoot me a PM!
Both of these are Gods honest truths! One thing i've learned being a welder, you're everyone's friend and they all want it done for cheap or absolutely nothing. Can't tell you how many times i've gotten dragged into projects that had no real profit for myself... LOLLeave a comment:

You guys are amazing. That Dogfab stuff looks rad! And red2.4srt, thanks for telling me what I have. I am out of my element here. A whole new nomenclature to learn!
It does seem that I should get some 1/16th rods and just grind the tips down so I can get more universally acceptable parts. The .040 stuff seems unsupported. Which is a bummer.
Get the Fupa cup, it'll work great for 95% of everything you'll weld and offer much better coverage. I have the #8 and #12 fupa and I still haven't ran into a situation where I needed the #8.
No.....welding is not cheap, to many people lack the appreciation of the cost and skill that is involved in making and welding quality parts. I'll go as far to say 98% of this forum doesn't appreciate that fact. Why I don't advertise my services or products on here..........Leave a comment:

Thanks ForcedFirebird and IronFreak.
I definitely appreciate the cost and skill involved. I am working on such a tight budget I can't do anything but try it out myself. I bet 98% of this board is in the same boat.Leave a comment:

Don't sweat the tungsten being larger. I have welded razor blades together with 3/32", just have to sharpen it to a finer tip. ;)Leave a comment:

So it looks like from Dogfab, I am going to need the #17 adapter kit for $25 and the #8 cup set for $30. Then some 3/32" tungsten and I can finally get to welding! GAHHH!!
