Heres a story. Friends mom goes car shopping. As the resident car guy im asked whats good or bad. So they ask about the x3 and i google it and tranny horror stories pop up all over the place. So i tell em about it.
In fact they tell me that they went to test drive one and right there on the dealer floor a brand new one didn't wanna go in reverse. If thats not a hint from heavens i dont know what else is.
But they still decide to get it. Sure enuf 2 months into ownership they come out and hald the tranny fluid is on the driveway. Replace tranny under warrantee. Next one intermittently cuts all power when you step on the gas. Says its very scary when trying to make a left through intersection. BMW gave them the middle finger and they toughed it out till end of lease.
So now the dad wants an SUV but no BMWs. This time they dont even ask me and get an 04 Volvo xc90 t6. Love the car cept that 6 months in the tranny grenades itself. Guess what? Its the same pos gm tranny that the x3 uses!! Lol. Except that now, due to sharing the coolant system, when the tranny pukes its guts it sends fragments of itself into the cooling system and the engine. They had the tranny replaced twice under 3rd party warrantee and finally just gave up. It drives but feels down on power and has a christmas tree of warning lights pop up all the time. The idea is to drive it into the ground.Comment
