My front left window has been starting to sound a little shitty lately. What are the areas I should clean and lubricate when I take the door panel off to deal with it?

If you have an '87 then you probably have the old style regulators like me - the tracked ones. They are complete shit. I know because I just finished rebuilding mine.
The regulators are NLA. Your scratching sound might be from one of the brackets holding the regulator in place coming loose and touching the window. Or it could be the motor gear drive system (which is still available, although expensive).
The regulator will have a split all the way down it. You could try some lithium grease spray all along in there to help. The split should be facing away from you when you take the door card off. You shouldn't need to remove the regulator to grease the track.

It might be a good idea to clean the regulator out with brake clean, letting it dry, then spraying with lithium grease. That way you have a chance to get some of the old gunk and grit out.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one?
