Seems to be that. You can trick it by putting your finger over it, and it changes the brightness.

Embarrassing moment today. Miscalculated range on the long Washington-Oregon-Idaho run and after realizing it, sweating bullets and hypermiling for half an hour, ran out of gas on the off ramp of the station. Pushed the car to safety, grabbed the @vossworld container out of my cup holder, flushed container and pumped $0.75 of gas, got in trouble for doing it myself (it's Oregon), filled car with the 0.85L and got to the station. Sweaty as heck but thank God this truck stop offers nice showers.
