This part fell of my car. What does it do, is it urgent that I put it back in?

Look at where the drive shaft connects to the diff, that's where it goes. Takes 5 mins to put it back on.
Thanks. I plan to put it back on just didn't want to jack up the car if it wasn't urgent. Will be doing it this weekend.

I don't know - I'd argue an e30 is easier in some ways for someone with limited mechanical knowledge. No points or carbs to deal with. Try balancing the carbs on a hemi 6 pack?

No, it's the heat shield that goes toward the back infront of the gas tank/rear end as others have stated.

OP, if you're interested spend some time in Norcal Chat and go to some meet ups. You'll learn a whole lot about e30's from very experienced people.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

The running part is directed to the guy tuning a muscle car. And no worries about being wrong.

                        Yeah, pretty much this.

Get reading on the forums OP, and find yourself a Bentley manual. Lots of E30 resources online. I've been on the E30 journey for 2 1/2 years and its been great, plus I've learned a lot of mechanics and my car. :D
