I carry more than I ever hope to need. Got the BMW tools (trunk tools, jack, wheel chuck) plus a box with coolant, quart of oil, needle-nose pliers, regular pliers, a screwdriver set, radiator cap, jumper cables, a shovel (small fold-up one for wintertime)...I think that's it. I don't really worry much about breakdowns due to keeping up with maintenance, but I know I don't need to worry even if something does happen.

on any lengthy journey "like out of state" ill take everything off my rolling tool cart and a selection of fluids and throw it in a box. that consists of wrenches of 4mm-26mm, sockets from 4mm-28mm, snips, ratchests and u-joints, pliers, vice grips, and everything else under the sun hahaOriginally posted by unloadedakIt's brand new. I've gripped the shaft a couple times and that's about it.

i daily drive a toyota hiace, has original toyota tools only other things are a lot of water in bottles, a fire extinguisher and a couple liters of oil.
has done about 270,000miles have never needed any of it except the oil
But when on a longer trip +100 miles i take a socket set and a few other tools as well just in case.
My E30 doesnt get used enough to have its own stuff lol

If you're driving around with tools on a daily basis, you must also be driving around with spare parts, otherwise the tools aren't that useful in most cases.
I carry tools on long trips, so I can get the part and fix the car myself (as opposed to paying a shop). But on a day to day basis, I think it's a moot point.-Nick
