did e30s come factory without A/C?

I have just about 100% of my AC deleted on my car, and i was wondering if they offered cars with out AC factory? i know e21s and E28s did.

the reason i asked is to find out if there is a switch that doesn't have the AC button.

Well you can be creative and use a rear window heater switch or window circuit breaker if you are good at hand painting. lol

You could replace it with a fog light switch and re-wire it to work. Wiring diagram can be found here:

Page 156 of the PDF (162 of the manual) shows it as just a basic single pole switch with a light. Should be easy to wire up.

a very small portion of them did - iirc the non-AC cars are a complete motherfucker to do a heater core on (think you gotta remove the dash). no idea if they have a different switch there though

It DOES appear there is a switch! #4

That diagram doesn't show a part number though. I found this looking under a Euro 316. Might look under other euro cars to find the part number.

Scratch that. I think that is an AC only switch, not a recirculate only switch.

of course they did. you forget that BMW NA maintains a luxury image thus fitting sunroofs, A/C and powerful engines ot their US market models.

in Europe BMW is also considered an economy car and many are base models with very few options

clearly luxury buyers in the 80's didn't scoff at ETAs or cars with crank windows/sunroofs, i'm not convinced a lack of AC would've been such a deal breaker for the people who bought the manual window/sunroof cars

I have a 2-87 Canada e that has a non- ac heater. The fan's impossible to find for under $400.

Sadly it came to me missing most of the dash parts, so I don't have that switch...

My 9/85 Eta was non AC as well. No recirculate switch even.

My buddy did retrofit cruise control into her though.

I wish you could still get cars bare bones like that now.
