    E30 restoration bible, worth it?

    Hey,
I am a new guy to the whole e30 scene and am about to purchase my first!! Anyways, I was checking this book out and it seems pretty legit, but is it worth it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/185...lance&n=283155

If anyone has it or has read it, can you tell me a bit about it? Thanks a ton.

bentley manual is definitely more useful, but I got the above mentioned bible, good reading on the airplane / coffee table book. Not much of a how-to, then a resource. It's written by a brit too, so the US model info is lacking.

Gotcha, so the bentley manual would be useful in diagnosing and fixing problems?

The bentley is the e30 bible.

There are some good online sources as well. www.pelicanparts.com for one has a nice tech info section.

              I.
              I have that book.

It´s a good book, but nothing compared to Bentley.
              Bentley is the best.

              That book is very "light".

Speaks about the story of the E30s, including the Hartge/Alpina versions, some pros/cons of each model (phase 1, phase2, and 316/318/320...), about the weak points of each chapter (bodywork, electrics, engine...).

and so on and so on... nothing to do with bentley.
Its a good book to add to your collection

                I wish it were....

It leaves out a lot of stuff. Like the evaporative emissions system-all the stuff up in the right rear wheelwell-Bentley never provides a diagram. Radio wiring harness? Not a peep. So while useful most of the time, I still miss books like the Honda factory manual I used to use. That thing was twice as thick as the Bentley and used precise drawings and diagrams rather than photos of sometimes dirty parts for reference. Everything was there, too. Bumper to bumper.
