My advice: pull the m42, sell that and the supercharger and drop an m10 back in, then work on the rust issues and get the 2002 road worthy. You can do all this while driving your reliable and gorgeous e30

I'm in the same pickle as you. On one side I absolutuely love my e30 but have always dreamed of owning an 02. I know of folks that daily them without a problem and others who daily 70s cars as well without a hiccup. It all comes down to what you're gonna enjoy driving the most, really.

I've done what you did. I had an 02 and a swapped e30. They were both project cars but the e30 was essentially done (like yours looks to be), and the 2002 was a huge project (still is).

If you can swing both and funds aren't impeding your quality of life (in a bad way), keep them and progress on the 02 one small project at a time.

I miss my old 02. They're awesome but not as a daily, unless you have something else to fall back on when things go wrong. I have to agree with phreshkid here, keep both.

But you sure will use other peoples pictures to sell stuff you don't have.

I love my 2002. It's on a whole different level of driving enjoyment for me. Would I ever sell my e30 to buy a 2002 as a dd? Hell no. Worst idea ever.

As fun as old (older than e30's) cars are, they can truly be a royal pain in the ass when you just need something to get the job done. Keep the e30, take at least 6 months to look for a cheaper decent 2002 while saving your money. Once you find one, pace yourself through the project while you enjoy the e30 the whole time. And don't be afraid to be picky. The car hunt can be one of the funnest parts.

If you really want a fresh 2002, I'd sell your project '02 and use the funds to buy a cleaner, more collectable example.
