I do disagree that nobody is a lost cause. Some people can't be helped. But I don't think this kid is one of them. Even is he is still an idiot at his best. Doesn't mean he deserves what he's going through.

Seems like some of you really lack an understanding/empathy of those with mental illness.

False. There are a lot of different kinds of mental illness, just like there are a lot of different kinds of physical illness. They're not all exactly the same, and you can't expect everyone with a mental illness to act exactly the same. He's not an idiot, he has serious mental issues and needs help to work through them. Just calling him an idiot and a lost cause is ignoring the very things that are causing his entire situation.

I'll just say this, I met the kid once when he was on his meds.....he was an idiot then.

That's not making light that he does have serious mental issues, just the his stupidity is compounding the problem. His perception of how the world worked when he was "sane" was severely screwed up as well. So many thing are adding to the severity of his condition now that it's not being regulated.

Pretty much yea. he refuses help and our state laws keep anyone from being able to do anything until he hurts someone or himself.

The girlfriend and I were walking a few blocks from our place to play tennis a few months ago and ended up being on the scene of a horrible wreck. Evidently a dude, who we later found out lived in our condo complex, had some serious mental problems and went off his meds. He got in to his SUV and drove it down a 35mph street, through an active school zone, at over 100mph and slammed into the back a lady driving an Audi TT, killing her instantly. The guy claimed he thought he was in an airplane on a runway and was taking off to fly. This was also right around the same time that depressed German pilot flew the plane with 150 people on board in to a mountain.

Sadly situations like Gingey's have to get worse before anything can be legally done to force the people to get the help they need. Hopefully he doesn't hurt anyone.
